I have spent a good deal of my life in Church…although to be honest with you, much of it while napping. I came from a mixed family. My Dad was Catholic and my Mom was a “spiritual mutt.” My four siblings and I faithfully attended Mass with our father, while our born-again mother church-hopped through most of our formative years. We all went to church…we just didn’t go as a family. Mom went her “protestant” way while the five of us dutifully followed our Dad to Mass. Our home was Christian…but not religious.
As a result, Frank and Pearl’s children left home with a cornucopia of theological perspectives. We understood right from wrong and knew that we were sinners. We recognized sins…but were powerless to say NO to it. As the Bible tells us, “we had a form of Godliness but denied the power thereof.” We knew ABOUT God…but had no idea what Christianity was all about. It wasn’t until I met Jesus on January 28, 1987…born again…that all of my “religious” upbringing began to make sense.
Christianity is a relationship…not a religion. Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Catholic, are RELIGIONS. Having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a RELATIONSHIP!
That’s why I love to wear a T-shirt that says I HATE RELIGION! Religion divides…that’s what denomination means. Wikipedia says there are over 42,000 denominations of Christianity.
Drive around your local town and count how many different churches there are. Each one a hyphenated type of Christianity. Heck, the Pastors don’t even talk to each other because each pulpit is trying to advance THEIR version of the Gospel. The Devil is laughing all of the way to the bank!! “Divide and conquer baby! The oldest trick in the book.”
But I digress.
As we circle around Halloween I am reminded of how little we understand about the Spiritual World. When was the last time you heard a sermon in your church on the Spiritual battles raging around us for the hearts and souls of men? Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? Are you being taught in your church about Satan and his minions? Are you aware of God’s hierarchy of Angels equipped to do war with Satan’s minions? Did you know Satan has an army? Principalities and powers is what the Bible calls them. Is the Bible true? Is it really a manual for fighting the “Spiritual” war? If so, why do we know so little about using our Spiritual weaponry?
The Bible teaches us that “ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
How do you fight Hell if you have no idea how to do it? How do you fight an enemy that you don’t even know exists? How do you use Spiritual Weapons if you don’t even know what they are? How do you fight an enemy if you are ignorant of his devices?
The greatest lie that Satan ever told Americans was that there was a separation of the Church and State. The SCOTUS pulled a Demonic coup by declaring that Almighty God was subservient to worldly government. He declared himself KING OF KINGS. He is a SPIRIT who rules over all of creation. Jesus isn’t a Church…and He cannot be separated from Government.
Hey Christian! Don’t you still pray “thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, ON EARTH?” God is OVER government…not subjected to whims of human legislatures. God’s laws are Immutable…they cannot be changed. Satan wants to overthrow God’s Domain. He does it through lies, deception, and fear.
Permit me to simply. The Bible teaches that when Satan was booted out of Heaven he took 1/3 of the angels with him. Their rebellion lead to a demonic hierarchy of fallen angels. Here is Satan’s Hierarchy of Hell. Take time to check it out.
But God has a team as well. His Heavenly hierarchy is listed here. They are Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. I wonder how many Christians are even aware of the Spiritual realm and the war that is raging around us…?
The war is in the Heavens. It is not Republican-Democrat, Liberal-Conservative, Right-Left, or Black-White. Did you know that? Has your Pastor taught you how to fight against the Ambassadors of Hell? Did you know that the Bible teaches us that Satan comes “masquerading” as an angel of light?
Hmmmm. What is the Satanic mantra? As above, so below? Evil Spirits in HIGH places?
Halloween is one of Satan’s high holidays joyfully celebrated in churches as “trunk or treat.” We dress our children about as devils and ghouls as we celebrate one of Lucifer’s Holidays.
The Devil ain’t playing. The Spiritual war is real. His goal is the souls of men.
