Edwin Viera:  The “M” Word

In today’s show Coach interviews constitutional scholar Dr. Edwin Viera.

The second amendment secures a free state by way of a well-regulated militia.  This makes it possible to maintain a republican government.  The right to bear arms is for the purpose of enabling citizens to be good soldiers.

The word “militia” was demonized starting in the 1960s as a response to radical elements that used the word to describe their resistance to Left wing politics.

The National Rifle Association was formed by Union Generals who noticed during the Civil War that boys arrived without knowledge of firearms.  They wanted citizens to be knowledgeable if they would have to fight.
