Psalm 89:14 – Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before Thy face. We need justice before God can give mercy.
God saw the wickedness of man, and He said, The soul that sinneth, it must die. The wages of sin is death. A just God isn’t going to break His rules just because He feels sorry for us.
Instead, God sent His son to execute justice. Jesus came, living 30 years, as a perfect example of holiness. Then, Jesus was turned over to hell; paying a debt He did not owe. Jesus paid the price for all of us all, even though He was perfect.
Jesus didn’t deserve it, but he was the spotless lamb, as a perfect sacrifice before the Lord, to become our sin. This is justice. Someone had to die. Our sinless Lord died, because God demanded justice and judgment.
We live in a culture today, where the Church is spitting on that sacrifice. I’m okay. You’re okay. We can do whatever we want to, and God loves us. Really?
1 John 3:8 – Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we are called the sons of God. We need to purify ourselves by drawing ourselves to Christ. Sin breaks the Law, but we are in Christ, who had no sin. When we abide in Christ, we do not sin because we want to be holy, righteous. He who commits the sin is of the devil.
The Son of God was manifest that He might destroy the works of the devil. God is just. He comes in judgment. Are we about justice and judgment? Mercy follows judgment.
