The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. What is effectual prayer? What is fervent prayer? We have been sold a bill of goods on what prayer is and is not. We have also been sold a bill of goods on the idea of forgiveness.
Ok, what prayer is effectual? Well, it’s that prayer that God’s will be done. Guess what folks, His will is a whole lot more important than your will. God has thing’s He’s doing, so you may as well get on board, instead of trying to get Him to do what you want. He’s God, remember?
Prayer is a two way street. Who has more important things to say? You or God? I’ll answer for you, God. It’s good to LISTEN more than you SPEAK. If all of your prayer time is spent asking God for stuff, then you may as well not pray.
In Matthew 6 Jesus lays it out very clearly how we are to pray. “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be they name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”
Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Guess what folks, if you don’t forgive, then God does not forgive you.
