Christmas Day is tomorrow, December 25th. No huddle tomorrow. See you back here on Wednesday.

What is Christmas all about? Is it about hanging Christmas trees from our hats, and going into debt that will take most of next year to get out of? Or is it about something else?

Why did Jesus have to come? And die on the Cross? Let’s get back to teaching the real reason He came.

Christ didn’t come to make you healthy, wealthy, wise, and happy on earth. He came to make you free from sin, so you can serve Him and further His kingdom.

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”

WHY? WHY did Christ die for me? It wasn’t merely just to get us “saved.”

If Christ took away the fear of death from us, “why?” Why did Christ die for us? So we could go back and enjoy the things He called us out of? Did He do it so we could hang Christmas trees from our hats or our ears?

Why did Christ come and die for us?  Christ died on the cross to rescue us from hell, so we are no longer afraid to be a soldier in His army. I have to die daily. He didn’t die so I could be prosperous, but so I could lay down my life for Him; sacrificing for Him.

Why are we afraid? Is it death? Jesus never saw death after his resurrection. And if we’re in Him, we don’t need to fear death, either. We are resurrected with Christ. We have victory because Christ was victorious over death. You’re already a dead man, dying to self. Don’t be afraid to die. Stand up. Defend Me. Speak the truth.

We all love everybody. We never move beyond a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, then a guy hanging on the Cross. We never go to the soon coming king.

Revelation 21 says He’ll come with fire in His eyes, and a sword in His hands. He’s coming back with clothes dipped in blood.  The armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  Jesus shall rule the nations with a rod of iron. He treadeth the winepress with the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. He has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

This is Jesus, now. He’s not a baby in the manger, but the Lion of Judah. He came to conquer his kingdom.

“Rally to Me,” says Jesus. We are to surrender to Him because we’ve been in rebellion. We submit to Him as our king and our commander. We take up His cross and follow Him and He conquers.

Celebrate Jesus, and the victory we have in Him, by dying to ourselves and fighting to win!
